When do I get my monetary award after being named a winner?

– If you are an Adobe intern, your monetary award of $10,000 USD will appear within your first Adobe paycheck.

– If you are not an Adobe intern, your monetary award of $10,000 USD will be issued as a check within 2-3 months after being named a winner. Adobe does require the winner to be on-boarded as a supplier in order to issue a check, so you will work closely with an Adobe representative through the time-sensitive on-boarding process.

Is the $10,000 given to the student or to the university?

The student.

Is there any limit to the number of applications that can come from a single university or department?

None.

I’m graduating Spring 2019, am I still eligible?

No, those graduating Spring 2019 are not eligible for the award or internship opportunity.

If my family member works at Adobe does that make me ineligible?

Only if your family member works within the Adobe Research Lab would you then be ineligible.

What makes a strong letter of recommendation?

Strong letters of recommendation are written by mentors or advisors outside of your family network. Furthermore, letters of recommendation should touch on accomplishments.

When is the deadline for letters of recommendation?

To be completed your application must include all of your letters by Friday, October 5th, 2018, 5pm Pacific Time. It’s your responsibility to follow up with your letter writers to confirm that they have submitted them on time.

Will I be able to update my Scholarship application once I submit it through the portal?

Yes, application updates can be made until the Friday, September 28th, 5pm PT deadline.

Do transcripts need to be official transcripts signed by the registrar?

Transcripts that are directly available are fine.

What instructions will you send my letter writers?

In your recommendation letter, please answer the following questions.

How long have you known the applicant and how did you meet?

Can you rank the applicant as belonging to the top 5, 10, or 20% of computer science undergraduates?

Please assess the applicants:

  • intellectual and analytic strength,
  • technical skills,
  • ability to think creatively,
  • ambition and initiative,
  • stamina and independence,
  • and ability to work as part of a team.

Do you have a minimum grade requirement?

No. However, grades are a consideration in the selection process. Students with strong academic records are more likely to win.

Can masters students apply?

Yes. The scholarship is intended for undergraduate and masters students.

Can high school students apply?

No. The scholarship is intended for undergraduate and masters students.

Are art and design students eligible?

No. This scholarship is intended for students studying computer science, computer engineering, or related technical fields.

What does ‘Grade Point Average’ mean?

Grade Point Average (GPA) is the average of all grades received in your current program. In the United States grades are typically on a 4.0 scale. If your school uses a different system, please write the average, if possible. If you are in your first year of university, please write your high-school grade point average.

I won the award last year. Can I apply again?

Previous award winners are not eligible. Students who received an honorable mention award are eligible to apply again.

Can I submit materials (transcripts, essays, letters of reference) in a language other than English?

No. All materials must be in English.

Can I ask an Adobe employee that I’ve interned with for a reference letter?

Yes
