Based on the working principal published in [Smithwick 2016], we have implemented a display system that composites matted foreground animated graphics and video, with per-pixel controllable emitted color and transparency, over real-world dynamic objects seen through a transparent display. Multiple users can participate simultaneously without any glasses, trackers, or additional devices. To evaluate the experiences enabled by such a device and to study perceptual issues, we used a panel capable of 240Hz display, and augmented the design with an interactive touch screen.
